Landscape (Brooksville,FL)
At the heart of Brooksville, Florida, we are confronted by a Confederate Soldier manifest in stone. He stands silently on guard in front of the Old Court House. Across the street, we find a monument with the Ten Commandments surrounded by a quiet courtyard and an empty parking lot and a church. The controversial soldier and Ten Commandments monuments have been the subject of public debate and demonstration on several occasions. The controversy isn't just a local one, but one that has echoed from several cities in the United States over the past couple decades. I find it unusual that these monuments still stand, and yet somewhat comforting that they are still here to remind us of our past. Being from the West Coast, I have no sentimental or cultural connection with the South. These monuments are but a source of curiosity that stimulate questions of their origin, and the people and events that they are set to remember.
You are over qualified my friend! Could’ja please tone it down a little? Lol Nah, keep up the great work!!! I’m tryna see something!
