Dreaming of a Post Apocalyptic Family This series was inspired by the work of surrealist photographers of the 1930s, such as Maurice Tabard and Man Ray. I wanted to achieve a look that was similar to stacking images, but using reflection, transparency, and light to achieve these results. I also experimented with longer exposure times to express the "ghost like" movements of the subject. To me, this seemed to be an ideal way to encapsulate a dream in an image. The subject is thus allowed the duality of remaining suspended in constant motion for eternity, and never really moving at all inside the framing of the composition. Those with a careful eye may recognize this particular example of rope work is influenced by the ancient Japanese Art of Shibari. While this is not something that is part of my waking life, It has a special place that torments my soul in my dreams.
